Delta Sigma Pi is a professional fraternity organized to foster the study of business in universities; to encourage scholarship, social activity and the association of students for their mutual advancement by research and practice; to promote closer affiliation between the commercial world and students of commerce, and to further a higher standard of commercial ethics and culture and the civic and commercial welfare of the community.
Initial interest in forming a chapter of Delta Sigma Pi at California State University at Fullerton began in the spring of 1985. An Initiate of Alpha Omicron Chapter at Ohio University, Dr. Thomas Johnson, contacted students in the university to determine if there was an interest in forming a chapter of Delta Sigma Pi on campus. Dr. Johnson served the colony as faculty advisor. At the time, Dr. Johnson was currently the Chairman of the Department of Management in the School of Business Administration and Economics.
Dr. Johnson contacted some students who were a part of another business organization on campus, Society for the Advancement of Management (SAM). He found a few members of this organization who were interested in organizing a chapter of Delta Sigma Pi on campus. It was from this group of members that the initial group of two students would come. This initial group of only two students began to recruit additional members and planned activities similar to those conducted by chapters of Delta Sigma Pi.
South Pacific Regional Director William R. Kinsella and District Director Robert Flores worked with the colony members during the 1985-1986 academic year to expand chapter programs and recruit additional members. From an initial group of two students, the colony now numbers 30 members while conducting a full range of professional, social and community service activities.
The members of this colony, Delta Sigma Beta were pledged in accordance with the Ritual of Delta Sigma Pi on October 5th, 1986. The Pledge Education Program for these students was conducted by current District Director Adrain Avalos and Regional Director William R. Kinsella. Several members of the Delta Sigma Beta Colony attended the South Pacific Regional Conference in Santa Barbara (California) during the weekend of October 10-12, 1986. Following the Regional Conference, Executive Director, Michael J. Mazur, Jr. visited the group for review of colony operations and assisted in future plans for installation of the colony as a chapter of the Fraternity.
On the morning of Sunday, December 7th, 1986, representatives from Phi Chapter at the University of Southern California, Delta Sigma Chapter at Loyola Marymount University, Eta Chi Chapter at California State Polytechnic University at Pomona, Iota Upsilon Chapter at Californa State University at Northridge and the Southern California Alumni Chapter gathered along with national officers for the installation ceremonies which resulted in the initiation of 27 charter members who formed the Lambda Sigma Chapter at California State University at Fullerton.
Grand President John V. Henik served as Headmaster for the Ritual Team. Other members of the installation team included: Director of Alumni Activities Joe S. “Skip” Loomis, Western Provincial Vice President William W. Tatum, Jr., South Pacific Regional Director William R. Kinsella, Western Regional Director Claire S. Roberts, Intermountain Regional Director Charles E. Farrow, District Directors Adrain R. Avalos, Bruce E. Williams and Executive Director Michael J. Mazur, Jr.
The banquet following the initiation was held at the Westin Hotel-South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, California. South Pacific Regional Director, William R. Kinsella served as Toastmaster. The Invocation was given by Tami N. Zimmerman, Vice President for Professional Activities of Lambda Sigma Chapter. Dr. Thomas W. Johnson, Faculty Advisor and Chairman of the Department of Management in the School of Business Administration and Economics, welcomed all who were in attendance at the banquet. Dr. Thomas L. Brown, Dean of the School of business Administration and Economics at California State University at Fullerton presented the History of the School.

Boyce, President of Lambda Sigma Chapter. Following the presentation of some awards, Executive Director Michael J. Mazur Jr., presented Fraternal Greetings from chapters and members from across the county welcoming Lambda Sigma Chapter
