The pledge program typically lasts around 7 weeks, with initiation generally taking place 3 weeks before finals.  During the course of pledging, the pledge class will be introduced to the way the chapter operates and organize four events similiar to the ones put on by the chapter.

These events include:

  • Professional Event – as a professional fraternity, events of this nature are integral to the development of our Brothers.  In general, these events include but are not limited to professional speakers, firm tours, and company tours.
  • Community Service Event – Delta Sigma Pi recognizes the importance of giving back to the community. As such, our chapter often participates in community service events.
  • Social Event – Although we are not a social fraternity, we recognize the importance of building a strong networks. As such, we often participate in social events in order to expand these networks and meet new potential recruiters.
  • Fundraising – Fundraising is an important part of chapter operations. Like the chapter, the pledge class will be expected to be self-sufficient and raise its own funds. None of the money collected by the pledge class will go back to the chapter.

In addition to these events, pledges will be required to complete a set number of interviews with Brothers of the chapter per week.  These interviews are intended to allow the pledges to meet brothers in a casual environment while honing their interview skills.  In addition, these interviews allow pledges to speak with brothers one-on-one in order to build the foundation for the life long brotherhood that comes after initiation.

Pledging is often compared to taking an additional class on top of your current course load.  Prospective members should ensure that they have enough time during the semester to devote to pledging.
